Tucson is a pretty nice place. Shy of being a thousand degrees in the summer, there's a lot to like here. The whole city (which is very oddly positioned in the middle of nowhere) is surrounded by mountains, they have a fabulous grid system that prevents you from getting lost (the houses are numbered corresponding to their distances away from two horizontal / vertical "zero line" streets), and there's a ton of fantastic food (of which no longer exists because TJ and I ate it all).
Courtesy of Brenda and her two kids Heidi and Eric, we were chauffeured around the city all week in order to see all the sites:
Walking downtown on 4th Street:
Outside the aptly named "Monkey House," one of the Huettner's rental properties downtown:
Meteor exhibits from OSIRIS-Rex, where Heidi works:
Agua Caliente Park, like an oasis in the desert:
The drive up to Mount Lemmon, the highest peak in the Santa Catalina Mountains:
Summerhaven, a town nestled at 8,100 feet in the Santa Catalina Mountains:
The famous In and Out Burger (which TJ has been talking about eating forever):
The Huettner's backyard:
...where I did plenty of this:
TJ doing strange things:

There was a lot of lounging, a little running, and a whole lot of eating. After five days of rest though, we're eager to get back on the road again. Next stop: San Diego!
Miles: 0, and not a single mile more
